Before reviewing – “thanks” to all who did the same. I recently updated some items and placed great emphasis on user reviews to guide decisions among members of its rival.
Regarding the review firstly a description of my home theater and audio system: Dell WD4200 1080i HD Monitor, Yamaha RX-V661 A / V receiver, Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD, Polk RM6750 system as ” set A “speaker, Klipsch Forte as the” partner B “from loudspeakers. The listening / viewing environment is a carpeted 12 x opening of 14 rooms in a narrow side, with an arch in a larger room, with television, the front speakers and subwoofer placed in a long wall. The RM6750 center speaker is installed immediately beneath the wall of TV, the front left and right RM6750 surround speakers on top of Forte in the corners of the room, the subwoofer on the floor, and the rear right and left speakers in the ceiling and directed downward to a sectional sofa in the back of the room. Since my receiver allows the user defines the selection of the LFE crossover frequency, the cable RM6750 sub to sub-receiver, set the LFE low pass receiver to 160 Hz, set the sub LFE low pass at 160 Hz, and set RM6750 all other speakers to “small”.
My view based on the surround and stereo playback programs is that the RM6750 represents a huge improvement for people interested in a surround sound system basis – especially if the alternative is listening to the standard TV speakers – although the system is not a substitute for more refined audio monitors if the primary content is music. At this price point highlights what are the weaknesses of the system, but its strengths: the center provides clear dialogue, the four surrounds are bright and forward, and the Sub adequately if not done precisely the “hits”. “Hits”, “slapping” and harmonic base tones associated with the music tracks of study. Using a variety of Dolby and DTS-encoded audio tracks of movies, the surround landscape created by the RM6750 was surprisingly good: clear, defined, well separated, and no obvious defects in stand-alone listening. The subwoofer pumps plenty of sound – even with the volume set at the midpoint of the unit – but tends towards the thumpiness “associate with audio over a car driven: there is no hum or noise, but just before that. However, as audio effects of a video highlighting the presence of more precision, this can be for the design and results Standard surround sound audio are impressive film.
The system’s weaknesses stem from the inability to accurately and smoothly reproduce music standard. To minimize bias hearing, I conducted several hours of A / B test of RM6750 in most listening modes provided by the RX-V661 with reference to the use Forte classic rock CDs as input material and my wife and blind daughter as panelists. The Fortes were the softest hands, the sharper in the high places, and more accurate, deep, resonant, and no media Boomy and low. The biggest difference was in the response under the base where the material base complex music with depth (some tracks, including Floyd) was Boomy in RM6750s heavy but clear and transparent high-frequency tones in the Forte. Pound for pound, however, competition is surprisingly good for RM6750s more expensive horn tweeters driven, media-based and audio monitors to the reproduction of music: the Forte, but aging, are among the best speakers in the when I bought a (I replaced a set of Bose 901s), then cost 5 times what you paid for the RM6750s now, and do not provide a dollar-for linear edge sound. One would be hard to say which suck for music and RM6750 minor deficiencies in accuracy would be difficult to detect – expect deep base, obviously incorrect – in the absence of an upper comparator.
The fund, in my opinion is that if you bought a big TV and do not have a surround sound system, spending another $ 250 for the RM6750 will make a major improvement in your home theater experience. For those who like loud low-bass and don’t necessarily care if it is a bit jarring and “thumpy”, you could use this system for both home theater and music listening. For those who prefer the accurate reproduction of music, only the most budget conscious RM6750 should consider an independent solution to all you’re listening needs.
